Senior Director of Networks
Monique is a highly strategic and results-driven leader who is passionate about achieving educational equity. She leads a team to create a customized professional learning strategy that builds leadership capacity, strengthens teacher practice and improves student outcomes in Louisiana and Atlanta as the Senior Director of Network 2 at Leading Educators.
Monique discovered an unyielding desire to work in education after completing undergraduate research that revealed vast educational inequities across the US. It was this research that cemented the idea that communities of color and the schools within these neighborhoods could be transformed with access to high quality instruction.
As an elementary school teacher and school leader, Monique worked tirelessly to ignite a passion for learning within each of her students and recreate those moments when students light up and get a confidence boost after achieving a learning goal. Monique now seeks to recreate this passion through her work with school systems to transform teaching and learning. Monique is committed to transforming education one school system, and by extension one community, at a time.
Previously at Leading Educators, Monique worked on the LEAP team to support DC Public Schools with professional learning as the Program Director. Before joining Leading Educators, she led a founding team to turnaround a low performing charter school. Monique also worked as a nonprofit consultant to strategically develop and implement programs to maintain relationships, recruit talent and raise funds.
Monique holds a B.A. from Temple University, a M.Ss in Teaching from Pace University and an M.S. in Early Childhood Leadership from Bank Street College of Education. She lives in her hometown of Washington, D.C., with her husband and two daughters, Ava and Amira.
Fun-fact: Monique loves to spin to old-school hip-hop and go-go.
